Coin issued in Bilbilis (Calatayud), Hispania (Spain), under Tiberius. Lucius Aelius Sejanus was the praetorian prefect under Tiberius from AD 15–31 but following a failed conspiracy to overthrow emperor Tiberius in AD 31 his name was removed (damnatio memoriae). Obv: (TI CAESAR D)IVI AVGVSTI F AVGVSTVS. Laureate head of Tiberius. Rev: MV (ligate) AV(ligate)GVSTA BILBILIS [TI CÆSARE V L ÆLIO SEIANO] (Lucius Aelius Sejanus). The words Caesar L. Aelio Seiano are obliterated. Laurel wreath around COS. (SNG Cop. 620; RPC 1.398).
