Medallion coin minted under Commodus (AD 177–192) at Thyatira. Obv.: AV K M AVRH KOMODOC. It depicts the bust of magistrate T. Aurelius Barbarus laureate, draped, and cuirassed. Rev.: EPI CTPA TIT-OV AVP-HLIOV BAPBAPO. Hephaestus seated on wreathed cippus, putting finishing touches, with a hammer, on a Corinthian helmet set on a low column, while Athena, standing left, holding a spear and shield, touches the top of the column; (BMC 82). Ramsay describes it as “The Thyatiran bronze-smith.” Letters, 325.
